about

Josh Lombard is a New York–based director, editor, and producer working across theater and film. He is the Co-Artistic Director of Headwall Theatre Company, where he develops and directs contemporary work shaped by psychological intimacy, theatricality, dark humor, and visually driven staging.
Josh is drawn to stories that complicate easy judgment and invite audiences to look again at people they might be quick to dismiss. He is especially interested in work where sexuality, race, and desire are part of the lived fabric of the world rather than a thesis placed on top of it. His work often explores the unstable space where humor, discomfort, vulnerability, and violence collide, creating experiences that ask audiences to examine not only what they are watching, but their own response to it.
His directing practice is shaped by his background in editing and photography. He is interested in how composition, light, pacing, and spatial relationships can guide focus, shift perspective, and create moments that linger after the performance ends.
